Kiki is the Official Mascot at our Adoption Center. Kiki is very friendly with everyone, especially children. She loves the attention she receives from our volunteers and youth groups who come in for service projects. Most of the time Kiki will be found up on top of a kennel looking out the windows. She also has a favorite basket on the floor that she likes to nap in.

Why is Kiki a Sanctuary cat? Kiki was returned to rescue 3 times, each time for peeing out of the litter box, specifically on her bedding or throw rugs. Kiki was 4 Paw Declawed before she came to OARS. One of many complications is avoidance of the box because of the pain of stepping on the litter; fabric is much softer. Kiki has had multiple vet visits and tests. She is currently receiving daily medication which has almost elliminated the problem. A pet communicator visited Kiki and said that she is very content to live at OARS.

Our mission is to save the lives of homeless animals, one at a time. We provide compassion, love and the highest quality of care for each animal, in a comfortable environment.

We give any extra care and nurturing that is needed for those pets that may otherwise be deemed unadoptable – the shy, the sick, the orphaned, the injured, the abused, the neglected; the unwanted misfits.

March 2015 Update!
With Beaker’s amazing, happy-go-lucky, outgoing personality, you would never know the extent of her health problems. From her exuberant purr to her Cookie Monster-esque style of eating, she takes her struggles in stride and just simply loves life. Beaker has a chronic upper respiratory infection, or a neverending kitty cold. Despite ongoing medication, supplements, and a special diet, her immune system is too weak to fight it completely off. Beaker is lucky enough to live with a family who cares for her special needs and loves her like one of their own, thanks to generous OARS supporters. Their nicknames for her include Beakster, Booger Blaster (for obvious reasons), and Beaker-Bot (for not-so-obvious reasons).

Hi everyone, I’m Beaker! I got my name because I make noises like the Muppet!
I’ve had a hard time in my short life, but you’d never know it because I love everyone and everything so much I can hardly stand it!

I was rescued as a stray when I was very young, then brought to a shelter.
I was very ill there, so someone called another kitty rescuer who came to get me and brought me to my foster mommy’s house, where I have been ever since. I have something called a chronic upper respiratory infection, which is like a kitty cold that doesn’t get better. I sneeze a lot and blow boogers that my momma likes to catch, and my eyes are runny and sometimes goopy. I also developed severe food allergies that made me so itchy I pulled out all the fur on my tummy and legs, so now I have to eat a special food, but I don’t mind. In fact, I like to dive headfirst in the bag when mom isn’t looking 🙂 She puts all sorts of medicine, vitamins, and supplements in my food to help make me feel better. She also gets in the tub with me and gives me baths, which make my skin feel better. She sure loves me a lot!

If you’d like to contribute to the cost of my care, please visit the Orphan Animal Rescue and Sanctuary website at http://orphananimalrescue.org/ and go to the “Donate” tab. Thank you so much!

We focus on providing the highest quality, personalized care for these pets, in a loving, homelike environment until adopted. Cats enjoy our community rooms, so they’re able to watch the bird feeder activity, and nap in a favorite sunny spot. We partner with other rescues and shelters when bringing pets in need to our rescue, rather than from the public. This approach allows us to help if that organization is near its capacity or should a particular need more attention. We are completely donation supported and all donations go directly to the pets: to buy the food, supplies, medications and veterinary treatments for the homeless animals in our care. Get involved and be part of the difference for these pets – please visit www.oarsrescue.org.

**Update on Jenkins**
Say hello to handsome Jenkins! This sweet boy was brought to a shelter as a stray, where he waited for a very long time to be adopted. Eventually he was transferred to Wish Upon a Paw, where he finally found a family of his own. Sadly, a child in the home developed allergies, so he was returned and transferred to Orphan Animal Rescue and Sanctuary.

While in care at the adoption center, Jenkins bonded with a very sick kitty named Finley. We all marveled at how he doted on him and how concerned he was for his buddy. When Finley went into foster care to recover, it was decided that Jenkins would go along to keep him company. While Finley did get better, their foster momma discovered that Jenkins was fairly ill himself. He was suffering from a HEART MURMUR, ASTHMA, which is now being treated with inhalers; and from CHRONIC KIDNEY FAILURE. While his CKD can be managed with diet and medication, it unfortunately cannot be cured 🙁

Because of these medical conditions, he will stay in his foster home as a sanctuary cat, where he will be loved and spoiled for the rest of his days.

****If you’d like to contribute to the cost of his care, please visit the Orphan Animal Rescue and Sanctuary website at http://orphananimalrescue.org/ and go to the “Donate” tab. Thank you so much!****

Jenkins is a super HANDSOME lover boy who just wants to be loved and to love you! He is absolutely gorgeous, with the most unique gray and white coloring, he is just beautiful! He LOVES attention and being petted and loves to be held close and purr. He also loves kids! He is around 5 years old, is neutered, had his distemper and dewormer, and tested negative for feline leukemia, FIV and heartworm. This wonderful boy would love to bring you joy and laughter for years to come!
